Sunset Loj is one of the last remaining Lake Placid camps that was a part of the Historic Lake Placid Club on Mirror Lake.
This Adirondack Rustic camp was a gathering spot in the late 1800’ for those who wanted to ski down the hill to Mirror Lake and across the lake to Main Street. A tow rope, which is still attached to the camp today, would pull guest up from the lake to enjoy hot chocolate in front of the fireplace. The original tow rope is still attached to the Sunset Loj as a reminder of the past.
The camp features a spacious main level floor plan with a great room, stone fireplace, den, a working elevator that takes you down to the garage, expansive kitchen and dining area, entry way/mud room with ½ bath. Also included on the main level is a king master bedroom with sitting area and private full bath. The master bath is original and features two lavatories along with separate vanities, stall shower & tub. The second floor consists of two bedrooms, one with a king bed, the second has log bunk beds with double beds and a shared bathroom.
An Adirondack style stone patio offers a peaceful setting with an open fire pit and gas grill. A perfect spot for dogs with a huge yard and surrounded by woods with no close neighbors.
Sunset Loj is located just above Mirror Lake and Lake Placid Main Street is a 5 minute walk. Here you can enjoy shopping, dining, arts, museums, the Olympic Center, golf, horse shows, movies, festivals and nightlife. Swimming can be enjoyed by guest directly at the bottom of Garden Way where you can enjoy Village owned beach and yard running along for ½ mile toward town. Dogs are welcome to swim here as well. Whiteface Mountain is 9 miles from the Village of Lake Placid with shuttle buses running every 45 minutes; The start of Iron Man on Mirror Lake is .4 miles; Horse Show grounds-2 miles; Olympic Ski Jumping complex-2 miles;
The Adirondacks offer so many opportunities to experience the great outdoors. Numerous nearby lakes and rivers provide our guests with swimming, rafting, boating, kayaking, SUP, canoeing, and fishing. The mountains offer hiking, rock climbing, ice climbing, and of course, winter skiing. Additionally, there are opportunities for horseback riding, snow shoeing, cross country skiing and summer hiking and camping. There are many guide services and ski shops that can help you plan your outdoor events and can rent you all the equipment you need. There is also plenty to do if you are not the "outdoorsy" type: stores, gift shops, theaters, art galleries, book stores, yarn shops, farm markets, Olympic Museums, and stunning road trip opportunities. Inside Sunset Loj you will find a notebook that will offer my personal suggestions for hiking, restaurants along with your checking out instructions.
